Obama says Hillary Clinton to become ‘excellent president' for US
The announcement comes a day before Hillary Clinton is expected to announce the start of her presidential campaign.
"She [Hillary Clinton] was a formidable candidate in 2008, she was a great supporter of mine in the general election, she was an outstanding secretary of state, she is my friend," Obama said, adding that "I think she would be an excellent president."
A former US Secretary of State, US Senator and First Lady of the United States, Clinton, is due to announce her candidacy for US president Sunday via social media, according to media reports.
If speculations are confirmed, Clinton will be the first Democratic presidential candidate to announce for the 2016 presidential elections.
