EVENTS
1933 – S.M.Kirov Kazakh National University is established. The university makes a great contribution to the development of the country, its economy, science and culture and has always been a forge of highly-qualified professionals. In 1991, the university is named after Al-Farabi.
1995 – The Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is established.
1995 – Kazakhstan’s Embassy is opened in London.
1997 – President of Kazakhstan decrees to transfer the capital of the country to Akmola. As per the decree, since December 10, 1997 Akmola becomes the capital of sovereign Kazakhstan.
2009 – Qazaq Eli architectural and sculptural complex is unveiled in Astana. The unique cultural project represents a stela with a legendary Samruk bird on its top and four bronze bas-reliefs at the bottom. On the one hand, the monument symbolizes the power and height of Kazakhstan’s architectural art, and on the other hand, history, culture and achievements of sovereign Kazakhstan. The height of the monument is 91 meters which symbolizes the year when the country gained its independence. The total area of the complex is five hectares, the area of near-by territory is 11 hectares.
2011 – Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan sign an intergovernmental agreement on maritime merchant shipping. The agreement becomes a fundamental document for mutually cooperation between the two countries in maritime transport.
2014 – In New York, permanent representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Republic of Mauritius to the UN - Kairat Abdrakhmanov and Milan Jaya Nyamrajsingh Mitarbhan - sign a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.
2017 – A monument to the first minister of justice of Kazakhstan, renowned lawyer and political activist Nagashbay Shaikenov is unveiled in Aktobe. Born on March 6, 1947, Nagashbay Shaikenov is a native of Orenburg, Russia. In 1992, he is invited to work in Kazakhstan. He holds the positions of the president’s advisor, minister of justice, deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan.
2021 – Burial mounds dating back to the IX-X centuries are discovered during archaeological excavations on the southern outskirts of Pavlodar, near Baidala village. The archeologists find wooden items, silk clothing, as well as various objects made from leather and metals. Excavations at the Baidala burial ground are carried out in order to study the historical and cultural heritage of the Kimak Khanate.
2021 – The International Airport of Uralsk is named after Soviet Union Hero Manshuk Mametova.
