ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Implementation of the Country Program of Cooperation between the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and Kazakhstan will affect the entire Central Asian region, says OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria.

"Earlier this year Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov and I signed the Cooperation Program that includes the Memorandum of Understanding strengthening our partnership. The goal of the MoU is to continue to make steps towards more intensive and sustainable growth. The Country Program for Cooperation between the OECD and Kazakhstan will allow to continue the work we have started and help the OECD member states study Kazakhstan's experience in rapid transition to market economy," Angel Gurria said while attending the 8th Astana Economic Forum in the Kazakh capital. In his words, the implementation of the Country Program in Kazakhstan will positively affect the entire Central Asian region. Besides, it will enable the OECD to establish closer ties with Kazakhstan and strengthen political dialogue on a number of issues in the region. Earlier it was reported that 3,000 delegates from 90 countries, including outstanding statesmen, heads of financial institutions and transnational companies, businessmen, scientists, and Nobel Prize winners, descended on Astana to participate in the 8th Astana Economic Forum.
