Oil-rich Kazakhstan pays utmost attention to alternative energy sources development: Joschka Fischer

The sides discussed participation of the German guest in the international conference "Green bridge" that is set to be held on September 30-October 1 in the Kazakh capital and exchanged views on the main aspects of Kazakhstani-German bilateral relations.

Having shared impressions of his first visit to Kazakhstan in 2001 as the Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister of Germany, the German politician lauded the political and socioeconomic achievements of our country over the last 12 years.

"I'm enormously impressed with the fact that Kazakhstan, being an oil, gas and uranium-rich country, pays utmost attention to the development of alternative energy sources and energy conservation and that has a positive effect on the global ecology. The theme of the International specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 "Energy of the future" in Astana speaks for responsibility of Kazakhstan for the future of humankind," Mr. Fischer told N. Onzhanov during the meeting.

Joschka Fischer served as Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor of Germany in the cabinet of Gerhard Schröder from 2001 till 2005.
