One day in Aul event promotes Kazakh culture among rising generation
The "One day in Aul" event initiated by Youth Resource Centres (YRC) has commenced in the Turkistan region on July 11. A total of 13 teams are participating in the contest, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The primary objective is to promote Kazakh national culture, traditions and customs among the younger generation, with a view to fostering spiritual and moral development.
The competition is held in Kazygurt district of the Turkistan region. An ethnoaul has been constructed in order to soak up the atmosphere of the culture.
Young men engage in national games such as sadak atu (traditional archery) and arkan tartys (tug-of-war), while girls are evaluated on their culinary abilities. They are instructed by elders on how to make qurt and dough for beshbarmak.
The concluding phase will entail an intellectual challenge, wherein participants will be required to respond to questions pertaining to the cultural and historical aspects of Kazakhstan.
The victorious teams will be awarded monetary prize. The first "One Day in Aul" competition was held in 2023.
