One dead, 33 injured in bus-motorcycle crash in south China

GUANGZHOU. April 10. KAZINFORM A bus collided with a motorcycle on a highway in the southern province of Guangdong on Monday, leaving a 63-year-old woman dead and 33 others -- mostly from Hong Kong -- injured, local authorities said.

The accident happened around 3:08 p.m. on the highway in Haifeng county of Shanwei city, when the bus carrying 47 people hit the motorcycle carrying two people, a municipal government spokesman said.

The motorcycle passenger, 63-year-old Tang Baoru from a local village, was killed in the accident, the spokesman said.

Altogether 33 people aboard the bus, which rolled after the collision, were injured, four severely, he said.

Among them, 30 were from Hong Kong, one from Indonesia, and the other two were local residents, he said.

The bus was travelling for Hong Kong when the accident happened.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, he added.
