Online schooling announced for Kokshetau, N Kazakhstan region and Astana for severe frosts
Secondary schools in Kokshetau, the administrative center of Akmola region, have shifted to online learning earlier this morning as temperatures dropped to -35°C , local education authorities say, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The emergencies authorities issued a storm alert for December 11 as blizzard is forecast in northern and eastern parts of the region. Wind speed in the south and east of the region may reach 15-20 meters per second.
Online schooling was also announced for the students of the North Kazakhstan region where the mercury dipped to -37°C.
Due to the deterioration of weather conditions, students of grades 0-9 of the first shift of Astana’s secondary schools also move to online learning today, a statement from the education department reads.
