Only 28.5% of population may stay in rural settlements in Kazakhstan in 31 years
The population of Kazakhstan is predicted to reach 29.7 million people by 2056 that is 49% more as compared to 2023, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to the National Economy Ministry’s analytical report on budget risks and long-term sustainable finance by 2056, the population of Kazakhstan will be 21.7 million people by 2030 including 10.6 million men and 11.1 million women. The country’s population is projected to reach 24.2 million by 2040 with 12 million men and 12.4 million women and 29.7 million by 2056 with 14.6 million men and 15 million women.
Urbanization rates are forecast to make 71% by 2056 that is 9.5% more as compared to 2023. Projections suggest that the urban population will rise by 8.9 million or 71.9% while growth in rural areas will make 0.8 million people or 11.7%. The report says urbanization will fuel growth in expenses for the development of city interculture, including roads, bridges, water supplies, wastewater disposal, and public transport. Besides, cities may face new social needs such as growing demand for healthcare, education, and social services.
The report predicts the number of people of the above active working age (65 and older) will significantly grow by 2056 from 1.7 million in 2023 to 3.8 million people. The number of people of active working age (16-64) will rise from 12.3 million in 2023 to 17.5 million in 2056.
Besides, according to the report the birth rates will reduce by 2026 to make 382,300 and grow gradually by 2031 up to 400,000 and 501,800 by 2040. Approximately 16.2 million babies will be born between 2024 and 2056 with the sex ratio remaining constant at 51:49.
