"To improve the quality of higher education, local universities are expected to make a smooth transition to academic and managerial autonomy. This task is complex yet very promising at the same time. Out of 36 universities that currently function in Kazakhstan, only five or six large higher education institutes have everything in place -resources, facilities and academic teaching staff and are ready to make that transition," Mr. Adilov said at the Wednesday briefing of the Central Communications Service. Modernization of the system of education and science in Kazakhstan has been mentioned as one of the key priorities in the State-of-the-Nation Address by President Nazarbayev "Kazakhstan's way-2050: Common goal, common interests, common future".
