Opportunities of Kazakh-Saudi strategic coop discussed in Riyadh
The Kazakh delegation consisted of the representatives of Foreign Ministry, scientific institutions and centers.
The meeting was aimed at discussing political, trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural humanitarian relations. The event allowed to exchange opinions on a wide array of topics, consider positions of the sides regarding regional and international problems. The sides worked out recommendations on strategic partnership for the foreign ministries of the two states. The countries need closer cooperation on the world arena. As is known the Saudi side highly appraised the growing authority and role of Kazakhstan in the international and regional affairs. The Kingdom supports the Kazakh President's initiative to declare August 29 as the International Day against Nuclear Tests.
The participants noted the necessity to activate trade-economic interaction. The Saudi side considers the possibility of investing in Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex. Besides, they can invest in energy, oil and gas, petrochemical, transport and construction sectors within the framework of Kazakhstan's Industrial Development Program. Another good opportunity for enhancement of business contacts will be the participation of Kazakhstan in the International Economic Forum in Jidda in February 2010 and the exhibition "Made in Kazakhstan".
As for the humanitarian cooperation the sides stressed the need to expand interaction in the sphere of science, archiving, nano- and bio technologies as well as information technologies and space research.
It was recommended to hold an international Islamic conference in Astana next year. The participants appreciated the decision of the World Islamic League to open its regional representation in Astana.
