OSCE delegation meets with Uzbek Ombudsman

TASHKENT. March 29. KAZINFORM A delegation of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has started meetings with the Uzbek parliament and government in Tashkent.

The delegation's visit aims to exchange experiences to ensure the rights of national minorities, and to hold educational and enlightenment activities in Uzbekistan.

On Monday, the delegation headed by OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Ambassador Knut Vollebaek met with Uzbek Ombudsman Sayyora Rashidova . The meeting discussed cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE in the sphere of law and the legal system, as well as current state and prospects of bilateral relations.

The sides stressed that the relations between Uzbekistan and the OSCE are developing in all directions, particularly in parliamentary relations, law and order, and human rights protection.

It was stressed that Uzbekistan pays special attention to inter-ethnic harmony. Uzbekistan cooperates with the OSCE in strengthening regional security and stability, expanding international economic and humanitarian partnership, and bettering the ecology.

The OSCE delegation will also hold talks with ministries as well, Trend News reports.
