OSCE is more than ever needs consolidating its role and relevance on post-Cold War environment - Cyprus FM

KAZINFORM /Arailym Temirgaliyeva/ 11 years after the last Summit and 20 years after adoption of the Paris Charter the OSCE is more than ever in need in consolidating its role and relevance on the post-Cold War environment; Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Markos Kyprianou who is taking part in the two-day summit of the OSCE in Astana said.

"It needs to adapt to the changing security environment while remaining true to its principles and roots", he added.

"We can appreciate the contribution of the OSCE to security by considering how the Organization had not been established but what the level of security and cooperation it would enjoy", the Cyprus Foreign Minister noted.

"We believe the Organization has displayed an ability to deter the threats and containing existing ones despite the persistence of conflicts. Despite these important achievements the OSCE has yet to accomplish its mission to fulfill its potential", he added.
