OSCE Summit participants can open new page in Organization's history - OSCE Sec Gen Marc Perrin de Brichambaut
"OSCE reflects the state of security in Europe. Over the past decade the reflection in this mirror was alarming. Many fundamental principles of the OSCE were violated. Distrust between the Organization's member states reduced the opportunities to respond to the crises and adapt to emerging threats. Lack of the common goal of the participating states led to that the OSCE summits have not been held for 11 years", Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said.
He noted that Greek chairmanship, having initiated the Corfu process, laid the foundation for ambitious and dynamic Kazakhstani chairmanship. "The decision on holding the Summit in Astana attracted great attention to the OSCE and due to this today it is possible to give a new impulse to the community of Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian security", the OSCE Secretary General stressed.
