Osh mudslide death toll rises to 8

Death toll from the devastating mudslide in Nookat district of Kyrgyzstan’s Osh region reached eight, Kabar reported citing the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergencies.

According to the Ministry, rescuers found a body of a woman whose identity is still unknown.

Earlier, the Ministry reported of seven victims of the tragedy - two women (unidentified) and five children and teens (born 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2016).

Two Kazakhstani children were among the victims.  

On June 28 at 04:10pm,  mudslide occurred in Nookat district of Osh region. The mudflows swept away bridges, roads and power stations, and killed people resting on the riverbank.

Meanwhile, according to the Kyrgyz Ministry, more than 1,300 people were evacuated from a recreation area of Abshyr-Ata village of Nookat district. None of them were injured.
