Over 20 states take part in Turkmenistan Oil and Gas exhibition

ASHGABAT. November 16. KAZINFORM Oil, gas and energy company delegates from over 20 states are taking part in the Turkmenistan Oil and Gas exhibition, which opened in Turkmenistan on Tuesday; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

Traditionally, the exhibition is held ahead of an international oil and gas conference, which will be attended by more than 700 delegates from 30 states this year.

"The development of the oil and gas sector is a priority of the national economic reforms," Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said in his greetings to the exhibition and conference participants. "Turkmen specialists together with companies of China, the United Arab Emirates and South Korea are developing the world's largest gas field, South Yoleten. Natural gas reserves of the field's eastern blocks only amount to 26,200 billion cubic meters," he said.

The most active partners of Turkmenistan: CNPC, Malaysian Petronas, which started producing gas and oil in the Caspian region this year, British-Arab Dragon Oil, which has been mining oil on the sea shelf for ten years, and German RWE, which is making seismic research in the Caspian Sea sector, have the largest stands at the exhibition. There are also stands of U.S. Chevron and ExxonMobil and British Petroleum, which are planning cooperation with Turkmenistan; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
