Over 200 ethnic Kazakhs from 40 countries attend Otandastar Forum

The Otandastar Forum of Compatriots started its work in Astana bringing together over 200 ethnic Kazakhs from 40 countries, Kazinform Agency reports.

Opening the forum, advisor to the Kazakh President Malik Otarbayev read out the greetings on behalf of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The President congratulated those present on opening the forum that is of great importance to the people of Kazakhstan. The Head of State noted wherever Kazakhs will live, their only motherland is Kazakhstan. It is crucial to support our compatriots living abroad. Among those attending are writer Akbar Mazhit, who translated the works of great Abai in Chinese, advisor to the natural resources minister of Uzbekistan Rasul Kusherbayev, deputy mayor of Crai settlement in France Yesim Savas.

As of September 1, 2023, some 16,026 ethnic Kazakhs returned to historic motherland and received kandas status.
