Over 200 sets of twins born in Almaty since Jan
217 sets of twins, including a set of triplets were born in Almaty since the beginning of the year, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Bostandyk district of Almaty city takes the lead with 39 sets of twins followed by Turksib, Alatau, Medeu, and Almaly districts.
Notably, this year the population of Kazakhstan rose to 20 million.
1.6 million sets of twins are delivered annually in the world, Kazakhstan ranks 48th.
According to the civil registration offices, the most popular names include Mukhammed, Al Mukhammed, Islam, Omar, Abylaikhan, Alikhan, Amre for boys, and Rayana, Kausar, Aisha, Medina, Zere, Tomiris for girls, etc.
29,560 babies, including 15,251 boys and 14,309 girls are born in Almaty between January and October this year. It is noteworthy, that most babies were born in August.
