Over 23,000 buildings bult in Kazakhstan this year
The amount of construction work grew by 8.8% in January -August 2024 to reach 3 trillion 996 billion 800 million tenge, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh National Statistics Bureau.
Non-residential construction takes the lead with 22.9% to the total construction works followed by highway construction with 16.1% and housing construction with 14.3%.
The number of new buildings hit 23,545 with the number of new apartments rising to 93,658 up 8%.
18 regions of Kazakhstan boasted a rise in construction works. The most growth was seen in Kyzylorda region (42.6%), East Kazakhstan (37.2%), Karaganda region (34%), Turkistan region (28.6%), Ulytau region (26.2%), Abai region (21.8%), and the cities of Astana (41.6%) and Shymkent (26.5%).
88.4% of construction works were carried out by private construction companies countrywide, 11.1 % by foreign and 0.5% by state companies.
