Over 54 thousand women work in civil service: G.Abdykalikova

ASTANA. March 5. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakh Minister of Labor and Social Protection Gulshara Abdykalikova delivered a speech at the V Forum of Kazakhstan Women.

According to the Minister, institutional system of gender policy, based on regional commissions for women and family-demographical policy was established in Kazakhstan. Another main purpose of the Commission is increase of the number of women?s NGOs that are up to 160 now. G.Abdykalikova stressed that Kazakhstan has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The National Commission developed the Action Plan on improvement of women?s position in the republic, the Strategy of gender equality for 2006-2012. The National Commission purposefully works on promotion of women in the representative and executive bodies. To this end, ?Otbasy? deputy group was established in the Parliament. The Minister noted that the number of women in the state bodies increases. Over 54 thousand women work in the civil service.
