In addition, agreements were reached concerning the implementation of investment initiatives with a total value exceeding 460 billion tenge.
“One of the main projects is the construction of a locomotive production plant, which will eventually produce 360 units per year. We have also signed an agreement with a foreign company to build a large plant for deep processing of grain. This $650 million project will not only create a thousand jobs, but will also increase the country's export potential. As the Head of State noted, such projects are of strategic importance to ensure food security of the country and increase added value in the agricultural sector,” said Marat Akhmetzhanov.
As for investment in tourism development, two multifunctional projects are planned for the region. The first is a cottage-hotel-type recreation zone in Burabay district, and the second is the expansion of the tourist complex in the form of accommodation and health resort treatment facilities in Akkol district.
In order to enhance the investment climate of the region, the Aqmola industrial zone has been established. A number of investors have already expressed interest in establishing their production facilities in that area. Among other initiatives, they intend to commence domestic production of agricultural machinery.
“Aqmola Invest Investment Development Center has recently been opened in Astana. The center has already held meetings with 50 companies, the majority of which are foreign investors. This is the only regional front office presented in the capital with a focus on attracting and supporting investors. As you can see, there are plans in place, and we will continue working in this direction,” the akim added.
This year, Kokshetau’s regional center will commence a program of housing stock renovation. The program will encompass 11 districts, with 150 old houses to be gradually renovated.
The Akmola region is also pursuing an initiative to enhance the supply of natural, environmentally friendly food products to the capital.
