Over $600bn needed to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060 – Kazakh PM

 A meeting of the Council for the transition to a green economy under the chairmanship of Kazakh Prime minister Alikhan Samilov took place today, Kazinform News Agency cites primeminister.kz. 

During the meeting, the Kazakh Prime minister stressed that a large-scale transformation of the economy requires greater green investments as well.

To achieve carbon neutrality before 2060, $600bn is needed. Therefore, the work to attract investments in green technologies needs to be stepped up, said Smailov.

The PM instructed to analyze barriers when realizing green projects, speed up the introduction of requirements for mandatory disclosure of data on green financing, as well as provide appropriate indicators and measures in the action plan of the Concept on transition towards green economy.
