Over 84,000 cases of diabetes registered in Kyrgyzstan

There are 84 thousand 39 patients with diabetes registered in Kyrgyzstan, of which 90% suffer from type 2 diabetes, and 10% from type 1 diabetes, endocrinologist Aisuluu Stamkulova told on the air of the Birinchi Radio, Kabar reports.

The doctor said that patients with high blood sugar levels can contact local clinics for primary diagnosis. If necessary, they can receive further examination and treatment at the endocrinology center.

Stamkulova also noted that diabetes can be inherited. Children suffering from type 1 diabetes require constant insulin therapy, which is provided free of charge in Kyrgyzstan at the endocrinology center.

Aisuluu Stamkulova emphasized the importance of proper preparation for tests, especially when giving blood for sugar. She reminded that diabetes is diagnosed only after two blood sugar measurements.
