Over KZT 140 mln fines imposed on violation of anti-monopoly legislation in 2008

ASTANA. January 16. KAZINFORM /Zauresh Balkenova / The Agency for Natural Monopoly Regulation (NMRA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan contributed over KZT 140 mln in the form of fines to the State budget on the facts of violating the anti-monopoly legislation in 2008. The head of the Agency Nurlan Aldabergenov said this on today?s collegium of NMRA, Kazinform reports.

?The Agency contributed 141,1mln to the State budget as penalties for violating the natural monopolies legislation, it is by 3,1 more, than in 2007?, N.Aldabergenov reports. According to him, 684 orders to combat violations were forwarded to the subjects of monopolies, 198 resolutions on administrative violations were adopted. ?During the last year the Agency, in order to protect the interests of consumers, participated in 160 legal suits?, said the head of NMRA. The Agency regulates activity of 1 017 subjects of natural monopolies, 560 ? in water supply services and drainage system, 378 ? in the sphere of electric energy and heat energy, 38 ? in the oil and gas sphere, 168 ? in transport. Besides, the Agency regulates activities of 375 dominants, over 200 subjects which services are included in nomenclature; it also controls activities of 1 thousand of licensors.
