Over the past 20 years, Kazakhstan has not explored any solid minerals deposits - MINT Board

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Over the past 20 years, Kazakhstan has not explored any large deposits of solid minerals, while the existing deposits are running low and the quality of raw materials is getting worse, this has been said by the Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov at the board meeting of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan.

According to the head of the Cabinet, the situation is particularly acute for copper concentrate deposits.

"For example, in the mining industry we use the resources that were explored in the 50- 60s of the last century by the academician Kanysh Satpayev", said Akhmetov.

In this regard, he has instructed the Ministry before the end of the first half of 2014 to work out plans for the development of the mining sector industries including exploration, upgrade of rare and rare-earth metals exploration, creating conditions for attracting investments in the sector.

In order to increase the investment attractiveness of the industry there has been developed and submitted to the Majilis of the Parliament the draft bill on Amendments to the Law on Subsoil.
