Pakistani Prime Minister arrives in Astana for SCO Summit

Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Astana to participate in the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Kazinform News Agency reports.

At the Astana international airport, he was greeted by his Kazakhstani counterpart Olzhas Bektenov.

Kazakhstan and Pakistan enjoy good bilateral trade and economic, transport and logistics as well as humanitarian cooperation. IT industry and financial sector are considered the promising areas of cooperation for Astana and Islamabad.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev have already arrived in Astana for the SCO summit.

Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping started his state visit to Kazakhstan on July 2. He was greeted by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan in the airport.

Xi Jinping will also attend the 24th meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
