Palestinian-Israeli conflict: President of Uzbekistan calls for cessation of hostilities
Taking the floor at the jubilee X Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Astana, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and called on the partiesfor cessation of hostilities, cease fire and come to a truce for humanitarian purposes, Kazinform News Agency reports.
An extremely dangerous nature of the long-standing Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Middle East became of particular concern to all of us. As a result of armed clashes, the number of deaths and injuries among civilians, especially among the elderly, women and children, increases sharply. The threat of conflict escalation is intensifying, Mirziyoyev said.
The only fair solution to this problem should be taken based on “two-state solution” principle. As it is defined in the UN resolutions, the people of Palestine have the right to establish an independent state. Within our Organization, we must disclose our unanimous principal stance on this issue to the entire world, he stressed.
