Kazakh Tourism and Sports Minister Yermek Marzhikpayev met with French Ambassador to Kazakhstan Didier Canesse at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games preparations headquarters, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Didier Canesse presented the Minister with the Paris 2024 Olympic Mascot.

The parties debated the forthcoming games.

The Kazakh Minister said  Kazakhstan has earned 19 Olympic licenses in 8 sports and 60 qualifying tournaments.

Besides, sportsmen from Kazakhstan and France take part in various competitions and training camps. On February 2-6, the Kazakh team won bronze at Judo Grand Slam held in Paris. French judoka Teddy Riner who won three Olympic gold medals, and five gold medals at the European Championships took part in the joint practice-training sessions of the Kazakhstan team. French coaches Stéphane Traineau and Bruno Xavier also contribute heavily to the development of judo in Kazakhstan. Currently, they are training at the Judo Academy in Almaty.

The Minister expressed interest in establishing cooperation between the states in holding joint training camps at the Olympic training republican base in Almaty. He also invited the French delegation and athletes to participate in the V World Nomad Games.

In conclusion, the diplomat wished Kazakhstani sportsmen success at Olympic Games in Paris.
