Patriarch Kirill meets with Raul Castro

MOSCOW. February 4. KAZINFORM. Cuba?s visiting leader Raul Castro on Tuesday visited Moscow?s Cathedral of Christ the Savior. In the Throne Hall he met with Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. The meeting was held behind closed doors. As he greeted Raul Castro, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church said a few words in Spanish.

Before the meeting Raul Castro had a tour of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and left a note in the book of honorary guests. He expressed ?admiration of and respect for this marvelous Edifice of God, erected in honor of the great victory of the Russian people against invaders in the Patriotic War of 1812.? Patriarch Kirill, when was still a metropolitan, visited Havana last October to consecrate the first Russian Orthodox church in the Caribbean. Raul Castro was present at the event; Kazinform has learnt from Itar-Tass.
