Pavlodar rgn reports 80 measles cases
Pavlodar region has registered 80 cases of measles since the start of 2023, largely among children and teens, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports.
70% of the measles cases were reported among unvaccinated children as the number of parents choosing not to vaccinate grows.
In the region, 123 suspected measles cases, of which 80 were confirmed, have been registered. Of the 80 measles cases, six have been reported in children under one year, 55 in children under 14, one in a 15-year-old child, and 18 in adults, Zamzagul Doshchanova, deputy head of the sanitary and epidemiological department of Pavlodar region, said.
The region envisages additional mass vaccination against measles, rubella and mumps to prevent growth in the number of cases.
Kazakhstan has registered a total of over 11 thousand measles cases, of which over 80% among children under 14, since the beginning of this year. The country saw measles cases rise 2.1 times in September, and 1.3 times in October.
