People stuck in snow for two days saved

ASTANA. December 23. KAZINFORM Two men and a woman that were trapped for two days in their snowed-in Gazelle in Alakol district of Almaty region were found and rescued on Saturday.

As reported earlier, at 9:00 am December 21 the Gazelle stopped a few kilometers from the bridge over the pass Yrgaity. Huge snowdrifts hindered their movement both forward and backward. After eight hours of waiting the people ran out of gas, and it became impossible to heat the cabin.

The rescuers from Usharal town and Dostyk village were hampered in their efforts to reach the place because of blizzard and conditions and lost connection.

The second rescue group was sent from the region's emergency department and LLP "Keden Trans Service" at 12:00 noon on December 22. They found the snow captives at 9:58 pm. The people were evacuated to Usharal town. No casualties were reported.
