Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the International Organizations in Vienna meets with Secretary General of OPEC

VIENNA. KAZINFORM - On June 4, 2014 the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Organizations in Vienna Kairat Sarybay met with Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Abdalla Salem El-Badri.

During the meeting the parties discussed Kazakhstan's role in the global energy cooperation, the prospects of bilateral cooperation, the activities of OPEC on stabilization of the oil market and current situation in the global energy market.

Secretary General Abdullah El-Badri briefed on the current situation in the oil market, noting that OPEC would maintain oil production level at 30 mln. barrels a day. The Chief of OPEC expressed his interest in establishing a dialogue between Kazakhstan and OPEC in the field of global energy cooperation, MFA informs.

Permanent Representative Kairat Sarybay noted that Kazakhstan positions itself as a reliable strategic partner in the energy sector and informed of Kazakhstan's readiness to facilitate cooperation with OPEC. In this regard, he invited OPEC's Chief to visit Kazakhstan in order to attend 25th meeting of the Energy Charter Conference, to be held on 27 November 2014 in Astana and to discuss perspectives of cooperation with Kazakhstan. A positive assessment was given to OPEC's activities on maintaining stability of oil prices and oil supply.
