Pile-up crash involving dozens of vehicles occurs in Akmola region
A pile-up involving around 40 vehicles occurred on Astana-Shchuchinsk road in Akmola region, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
According to the press service of the police department of Akmola region, the road accident took place at 1:30pm on January 3 between Kogam and Karatal villages of Birzhan sal district.
As a result of bad weather (blizzard, poor visibility), there was a collision of around 40 vehicles. There has been no information on victims or injured ones so far. The police and emergency service personnel are on the site. Works are ongoing to evacuate the vehicles and ensure road safety, said the police department.
Earlier, the emergency services warned of possible bad weather conditions in the region, as drivers were recommended to avoid trips, especially on country roads.
