PM Bektenov reports to President on socio-economic development, harvesting campaign and heating season preparations
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reported today to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the country’s socio-economic development, harvesting campaign and preparations for the upcoming winter season, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Akorda press service.
According to Olzhas Bektenov, economic growth in January-August was recorded at 3.7%. The highest indicators were registered in construction sphere (8.8%), transport and warehousing (7.9%), communication (7.4%), trade (5.5%), and processing industry (4.9%).
Bektenov said that concessional financing in agricultural sector had tripled and reached 580 billion tenge. The agrarians have already harvested 70.2% of grains and leguminous crops, while 17.2 million tons of grain were threshed out. The agrarians have been provided with sufficient volume of cheap fuel.
The President was informed about the regions’ preparations for the upcoming heating season and the course of fulfillment of his instructions on liquidation of the spring flood consequences and flood prevention measures for the next year.
As the prime minister said, the regions’ preparedness for the heating season is evaluated at 98.3%. The heat power stations’ annual need in coal is 60 million tons, and the existing volume complies with the standards.
According to Olzhas Bektenov, all flood-affected citizens of Kazakhstan have been provided with social support and received compensations for the damaged property. 5,767 houses and apartments were bought and presented to the flood victims. 2,576 new houses were built. Another 104 houses are under construction in Akmola and West Kazakhstan regions. The government is currently implementing the flood prevention plan.
At the end of the meeting, the President set a number of instructions to further unlock the country’s industrial potential and modernize infrastructure.
