PM instructs to create conditions for Kazakhstan’s successful performance at Asian Games in Harbin
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, has expressed hope for the successful performance of national athletes at the Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025, Kazinform News Agency reports.
He noted that the history of winter sports in Kazakhstan boasts numerous outstanding achievements by our athletes. These include Olympic champions Vladimir Smirnov, a gold medalist in cross-country skiing in 1994, Lyudmila Prokasheva, a bronze medalist in speed skating in 1998, Elena Khrustaleva, who secured a silver medal in biathlon in 2010, Denis Ten, a bronze medalist in figure skating in 2014, and Yulia Galysheva, who brought Olympic bronze in freestyle skiing in 2018.
“I hope our athletes will carry on those glorious traditions and perform successfully at the upcoming games in Harbin,” the Kazakh Prime Minister said at the Government’s meeting.
In this regard, he instructed the ministries, akimats, and other relevant bodies and companies, to create all necessary conditions to ensure the successful performance of Kazakhstan’s national team in China.
Specifically, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tasked with providing the national team with the requisite support through diplomatic channels, while the Ministry of Culture and Information was responsible for ensuring the smooth and high-quality broadcasting of the Asian Games, with the participation of Kazakh athletes.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports together with akimats, the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and sports federations will be responsible for enhancing the efforts in preparation for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
As reported earlier, the lineup of Kazakhstan's short track team to participate in the 9th Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025 in China was announced.
