PM ordered Justice Ministry to identify nationality in new passports: telephone conference

ASTANA. January 19. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ Today at a telephone conference Prime Minister Karim Massimov has ordered the Ministry of Justice to ente nationality in new biometric passports, Kazinform correspondent reports.

?This issue aroused heated discussions in the society. In my opinion, the arguments are quite reasonable and I charge the Justice Ministry to introduce necessary data in new passports?, K. Massimov said addressing Minister of Justice Zagipa Baliyeva. According to Mrs. Baliyeva, the world has known 198 kinds of passports, most of them mention only citizenship. Two countries only ? Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan ? write in nationality in documents. ?In accordance with the Constitution of Kazakhstan, our citizens have right to identify their nationality in new passports. As for the issued documents, they will be changed. This procedure will be free of charge and take only a day ?, she added. In whole, 2 700 new biometric passports have been issued countrywide to date.
