PMs discuss activities of Kazakh-Kyrgyz Investment Fund

ASTANA. December 4. KAZINFORM Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov met with his Kyrgyz colleague Zhantoro Satybaldiyev within the framework of a working trip to Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation in commercial and economic, and investment spheres, the press service of the Kazakh Government reports.

"Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan can increase the mutual sales turnover up to USD 1 billion. For that to happen, we need to activate the agreements made between our countries," S. Akhmetov noted.

Z. Satybaldiyev, in his turn, stressed the importance of cooperation with Kazakhstan. "We consider Kazakhstan an important strategic partner as we are connected by the long-standing historical and economic ties," the Kyrgyz PM added.

The sides also debated the activities of the joint Kazakh-Kyrgyz Investment Fund. Over a short period of time, the fund has financed a number of promising projects promoting strengthening of the bilateral economic relations. S.Akhmetov urged 'to develop the fund's activities more actively'.

Kazakhstan is one of the largest investors of Kyrgyz economy. There are more than 400 joint ventures with the participation of the Kazakh capital in Kyrgyzstan in such sectors as energy, gas transportation, industry, construction materials, banking sector and so on.
