Police officer killed in Almaty

A police officer of the Medeu District Police Department was stabbed to death during an altercation in one of Almaty's medical facilities, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The local police department has initiated a criminal investigation into the incident. Concurrently, a service inspection is underway.

“The suspect was detained and taken to a temporary detention center. It is noted that the police officer was off duty and outside working hours. In accordance with the requirements of Article 201 of the Criminal Procedural Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other information on the criminal case is not disclosed,” the press service of the Almaty Police Department informed.

Earlier it was reported that two children were killed in a house fire in Karaganda.
