Politician injured in attack in southern Philippines
COTABATO. December 30. KAZINFORM A politician seeking for a mayoralty position in next year's election was injured in an ambush in the southern Philippines on Tuesday evening, only two days after a politician was killed in an election-linked violence, police said on Wednesday, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

The victim, Wilbert Oregenes, a councilor, was shot by unknown gunmen outside his house in Tagana-an township in Surigao del Norte shortly after 7:00 p.m., said regional police commander Chief Superintendent Lino Calingasan.
Oregenes was rushed by his families to a nearby hospital. The suspects in the attack remain unknown and police are conducting a probe of the incident.
On Monday, four armed men shot at the convoy of 50 people carrying candidates and supporters in the town of Dingras in Ilocos Norte, leaving a political candidate dead and six others wounded, Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.chinaview.cn for full version.
