Poltoranin the second at the World Cup in Drammen

ASTANA. March 14. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan skier Alexey Poltoranin won the silver medal of the individual sprint in classic style, which was held in Norway in Drammen within the 14-th stage of the World Cup, Vesti.kz reports.

The winner of the home stage of the World Cup was a Norwegian skier Petter Northug. Poltoranin lost 2.1 seconds to Northug. Russian Nikita Kryukov finished the third.

Kazakhstani athlete early in the race became one of the leaders and pulled away from the other finalists. At the end of the track Northug was able to approach Poltoranin and to snatch victory in the final sprint.

Another representative of Kazakhstan, Nikolay Chebotko, who reached the semifinals, finally became the tenth.

In the women's sprint the win was by Polish Justyna Kowalczyk, who was ahead of Norwegian skiers Heidi Weng and Ingvild Österberg.

We remind that three days ago Poltoranin had also won the silver medal at 15 km race only.
