President invited UN Sec-Gen to conference devoted to 20th anniversary of closure of Semipalatinsk test site
ASTANA. March 12. KAZINFORM Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev invited the UN Secretary-General to take part in the international conference devoted to the 20th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site; Kazinform refers to the presidential press service.
As reported earlier, N. Nazarbayev and Ban Ki-monn talked over the phone yesterday.
President Nazarbayev noted the importance of the two visits of Ban Ki-moon to Kazakhstan in 2010 and thanked for the support of the initiative of Kazakhstan on declaring August 29 the International Day against Nuclear Tests.
The Secretary-General thanked for the invitation and promised to carefully consider it.
