President meets executive officials

ALMATY. April 10. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Today in Almaty President Nursultan Nazarbayev has held a meeting with the top management of the National Bank, Financial Supervision Agency and Agency of Kazakhstan on regulation of activities of the regional financial centre of Almaty; Kazinform reports.

At the meeting the Head of the State heard the annual work statements of the regulatory bodies. According to Chairman of the Financial Supervision Agency Yelena Bakhmutova, N.Nazarbayev gave a positive estimation to her report. However he urged to strengthen the system of the Agency in order to response to possible challenges. ?The President urged to pay special attention to the control over of the loan portfolio quality, status of risk management in financial organizations, to analyze expediency of modifying the liquidation of banks' external obligations?, she said. At the meeting the President appealed the Financial Supervision Agency to be prepared for the joint work with the Government, National Bank on risks control, which can exist in the financial system, and be available to meet any challenges, which can follow. Y.Bakhmutova noted that the situation in the banking sphere is intricate, therefore the President charged to scrutinize the opportunities of modifying the external obligations in order to ease the pressure on bank assets and estimate the risks of loan portfolio deterioration in the connection with weakening economic processes. ?Modification also includes restructuring. It can be compelled or voluntary. But in this case the question is how to decrease the total volume or extend some external obligations?, Y.Bakhmutova said.
