President Nazarbayev hails high level of Kazakh-U.S. partnership
The ceremony took place in the Akorda presidential residence in the Kazakh capital where President Nazarbayev received the credentials from several foreign dignitaries now posted in Astana. "I am satisfied with high level of multi-sector strategic partnership with the United States," Nazarbayev said during the ceremony. "The U.S. was one of the first countries to recognize Kazakhstan's independence and guarantee its security. As you may know, two decades ago Kazakhstan renounced its nuclear arsenal and closed the world's largest nuclear polygon." The Kazakh President also noted that nowadays Astana and Washington enjoy trust-based dialogue at a high level. The two nations actively cooperate in extraction and energy spheres. Currently there are more than 400 Kazakhstani-American joint enterprises in Kazakhstan. The bilateral sales turnover reached $2,5 billion last year.
