MOSCOW. May 16. KAZINFORM In the course of a bilateral meeting in Kremlin on May 15 the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev invited President of Russia Vladimir Putin to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan.

Vladimir Putin, in his turn, said that he kindly accepted Presidents Nazarbayev's invitation.

During the top-level negotiations presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia underlined the importance of joint work done in terms of bilateral interaction and cooperation within various international integration organizations.

The sides especially underscored the key role of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Aid between Kazakhstan and Russia. "Some provisions of this treaty are out of date - we 'left them behind' by creating the Customs Union. It is crucial to make necessary amendments to the treaty and extend it," N. Nazarbayev noted. His Russian counterpart supported this idea.
