President of Turkmenistan received Kazakh FM
According to Kazakh MFA's press service, Mr. Kazykhanov was received by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Having handed personal message from President Nazarbayev addressed to President of Turkmenistan Y. Kazykhanov told about Kazakhstan's socio-economic development and policy priorities.
During the meeting the sides discussed state and perspectives of Kazakh-Turkmen relations in political, commercial and economic and cultural and humanitarian spheres. Gradual implementation of large joint projects in transport and energy fields was noted. The sides highly estimated achievements of bilateral partnership over 20 years of diplomatic relations.
Taking into account Turkmenistan's chairmanship in the CIS, the parties touched upon perspectives of integration processes and economic cooperation within the Commonwealth. In the light of the international ministerial conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) "Refuges in a Muslim world" which is being held in Ashgabat, Mr. Kazykhanov familiarized President of Turkmenistan with priority directions of Kazakhstan's presidency in OIC Foreign Ministers' Council.
Within the framework of the visit Yerzhan Kazykhanov met with his Turkmen colleague Rashid Meredov. They debated problems of regional and international security, and priorities within Caspian, transit and energy cooperation in details.
Yerzhan Kazykhanov and Rashid Meredov with satisfaction noted the results of foreign ministries' political consultations held in March 2012 in Ashgabat and defined a number of priorities in the regional and international interaction of our countries.
Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan established diplomatic ties on October 5, 1992.
Upon results of 2011 the sales turnover between the countries made USD 183 million.
