President participated in opening of House of Friendship in Almaty

ALMATY. March 24. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has taken part in the opening ceremony of the House of Friendship within his working visit to Almaty today. The House was opened after a restoration.

Kazakh Minister of Culture Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed and Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov participated in the event as well.

Nursultan Nazarbayev surveyed the repaired building and met with representatives of the national cultural centers.

The office of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan, 19 ethno-cultural centers, 9 Sunday schools teaching Kazakh and other languages are located in the building. The main purpose of the House's work is promotion of the national culture and science development. Research center on interethnic relations is located in the House as well. The center takes part in social programs on languages and cultures revival of the peoples of Kazakhstan, conducts scientific and research work on interethnic relations and strengthening of ethnic and cultural contacts in the society.
