President receives letters from reps of international community on 20th anniversary of People’ Assembly of Kazakhstan
In his letter, co-chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group "Kazakhstan-Canada", Leon Benoit noted that over the past two decades People's Assembly of Kazakhstan has been the main body for the promotion and protection of inter-religious and inter-ethnic accord in the country. "In September 2014 I made a productive and memorable visit to your country. I was impressed with the mandate and activities of the Assembly. In addition to our strong, growing economic cooperation, the Assembly brings together the positions of Kazakhstan and Canada on many issues of mutual concern. We hope that your young democratic state will continue its development and the Assembly will play a significant role in this process," the letter reads. OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Astrid Thors stressed that the Assembly has become a symbol of ethnic diversity of Kazakhstan and its success in maintaining accord in the country. "The Assembly is an important analogue of our organization. The role of this consultative body is emphasized in Ljubljana recommendations for integration of diverse societies," the message says. The participants of the Kazakh-Lithuanian project called "Connecting thread of destinies" Professor Algis Vishnyunas from the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and former steppe camp (Steplag) prisoner, writer Antanos Seykalis stressed that the decision of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to create a new public institution has been fully justified. "Today the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan involves dozens of public associations representing all ethnic groups living in Kazakhstan. It has become a real consolidation institution of multi-ethnic society of your country," the letter reads. Academician of the International Academy of Ecology and life safety, associated to the United Nations, N.Kurilyuk noted that successful and creative future of Kazakhstan is based on unity of its people. Director of Interstate Institute of Ukrainian-Kazakh relations N.Stepanenko has sent his congratulations to the President of Kazakhstan. He stressed the historical importance and foresight of Nursultan Nazarbayev's decision on the establishment of the People's Assembly. President of the Ukrainian Sports Federation "Universal fight" A.Kondrashov pointed out that under the leadership of President Nursultan Nazarbayev the Assembly has become the national institute of peace and accord. Director of the Ukrainian Technological Academy, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology Y.Kolesnik has sent his warm wishes to the Head of State. In his letter he underlined the noble work of the Assembly. In his congratulatory message, the first cosmonaut, Hero of Ukraine L.Kadenyuk stressed the importance of the unique institution of social cohesion established to preserve peace and accord in the country.
