President tasks Culture Minister to control preparations for Y2025 landmark events
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received today Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.
Aida Balayeva reported to the President on the measures taken by the ministry in 2024 in the field of culture, information, civil society, religion, interethnic relations, youth policy and creative industries, family and demography, archives and library science, as well as the ministry’s plans for 2025.
According to her, in 2024, Kazakh artworks were presented for the first time on the platforms of the Venice Biennale and the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts in Paris. Kazakh publishing industry products were also showcased at the 2024 Frankfurter Buchmesse.
The launch of Qazaq Culture information and educational platform in eight languages is another project aimed at the promotion of history, culture and traditions. One more cultural and mass event was the opening and closing ceremonies of the V World Nomad Games.
Aida Balayeva also reported on the ministry's lawmaking activity, mentioning the adoption of the new law on mass media in 2024 aimed at raising the journalists’ status. Presently, the Parliament considers the amendments to the legislation on provision of direct financing to the KazakhFilm Studio.
The Head of State was informed about support of volunteering activity too. According to the minister, compared to 2022, the number of active volunteers has increased to 240,000 people with more than 50 volunteering projects implemented every year. Seven volunteers were sent to the UN structures.
A package of measures was adopted to support the country’s creative industries, the minister said. Among them is creation of a fund of creative industries and extending the competences of the local and central executive structures. A special tax regime was introduced for the creative industry entities. 10 creative centers and hubs have been opened countrywide since the year beginning.
Upon completion of the meeting, the President tasked the minister to monitor and control the preparations for the landmark events of 2025, such as the 30th anniversary of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan, the 80th jubilee of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
