President Tokayev briefed on economic development of the country in Q3 2024

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda.

During the meeting, Bektenov delivered a report on the social and economic development of the country in the third quarter of this year.

In the reporting period, the country's GDP growth stood at 4% as a result of the development of the non-primary sector, with the highest growth rates recorded in agriculture – 11.4%, construction – 10.1%, transport – 8%, communication – 6.4%, trade – 6.3% and manufacturing – 4.8%.

The country’s 14 regions posted the increase in manufacturing output.

Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover was at 91.7 billion US dollars in January-August this year, with the share of export up by 3.3%. The positive trade balance increased by 34.8% to 15.4 billion US dollars.

The country’s state budget received 14.9 trillion tenge, with the priority put on social obligations in the structure of budget expenditure.

The Kazakh Premier presented the information on the realization of the Head of State’s instructions regarding the return of illegally acquired assets. So, since the beginning of the year, the Commission approved agreements to return assets worth around 450 billion tenge. So far, assets worth 265 billion tenge, including 177 billion tenge in monetary terms, have been transferred to the state revenue, that are used for socially important goals.

Subjects of the Law on the return of illegally acquired assets to the state have been carrying out a number of projects, including funding of programs for rehabilitation and socialization of persons in need, construction of a cultural and education center and a sports arena.

Bektenov also reported on the results of the meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the SCO member states held in Islamabad, Pakistan

The President noted the need to step up the work of the Government to ensure sustainable growth of Kazakhstan’s economy through diversification, support for SMEs, promotion of innovations in the agro-industrial complex and realization of major industrial and infrastructure projects.
