President Tokayev presents Dimash Kudaibergen with Tazy puppy

President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev presented world-famous singer Dimash Kudaibergen with a dog of the Kazakh Tazy breed, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The singer shared a picture with the puppy on his Instagram account.

This wonder of nature, Tazy puppy, was presented to me by Kassym-Zhomart Kemelevich [Ed.: Tokayev]. Tazy is one of the “seven treasures” inherited from our ancestors. I am glad to know that today Kazakhstan gives much attention to the preservation and international recognition of this breed. This breed stands out for its beauty, restraint and, from what I saw, it is very smart, the singer’s post in Instagram reads.

He also thanked Head of State for such a gift.

Our ancestors revered and loved the Tazy (greyhound). This dog could freely enter the yurt [Ed.: traditional dwelling of Kazakhs]. The name "Tazy" comes from Persian and means "fast, dexterous." I thank our President for such a priceless gift! We named the greyhound Garyshker (astronaut), adds Dimash.
