President Tokayev proposes to introduce uniform standards in OTS states
At today’s jubilee summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to introduce common standards for the participants of the OTS, Kazinform News Agency reports.
He noted the importance of ensuring synchronous development of the Turkic-speaking states.
We consider it reasonable to systematize the standards and terminology of our states. In this regard, I am calling you to draft a typical bill and approve it as soon as possible. This initiative will open the way to a free export of our goods to the common market. The uniform standards will let us ensure annual GDP growth approximately by 1%, said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
In his words, today’s GDP of our countries stands at 1.4 trillion US dollars.
This year, commodity turnover between the OTS states exceeded 22 billion US dollars. This indicator can be raised by 1.5fold given that we approve common requirements, he added.
Besides, the President proposed to establish the OTS Reference Center, which is called to ensure mutual recognition of products test results and carry out new researches in chemical and food industry.
